Vouching for the Voucher System in Education | Proyekto Pilipino

"The reason for school vouchers is when K-12 was introduced, the private sectors had rooms, but the public schools didn't. That's when the vouchers started - out of necessity."

Today's episode is an extension of the talk on education in the Philippine setting from our previous episode. Here, we're looking at the four proposals of our special guests when it comes to educational reforms in our current system. These proposals include the expansion of the current voucher system for public school junior high school students, transferring the management of basic education to local governments, putting up charter schools, and convincing the local governments for charter schools.

In this episode, Father Tito Caluag and Manolo Quezon continued the discussion on education, particularly on the route of the K–12 program in the Philippines. Our special guest, Dr. Victor Limlingan, Sr., a retired professor in AIM (Asian Institude of Management) and an educational policy advocate, vouches for expanding the current voucher system we have in basic education. He finds this expansion to address some crucial issues in education, such as the Philippines having the highest dropout rate in Asia and the lack of classrooms in public schools.
